Singer/Songwriter Janet Simpson has played in bands since the age of 15. In the nearly 20 years since, she has been heavily influenced by her experiences performing alongside Chet Atkins, Vic Chesnutt, and Liz Durrett. Owing much of her formation as a musician to her parents' record collection, Janet's interests have ranged from childhood explorations of Tina Turner and Buffy Sainte-Marie to a teenage fascination with Throwing Muses and the Pixies. Steeped in mysticism and Southern folklore, Janet's songs center around her love for words and language, often playing with storytelling through image-heavy narrative.
Janet is the bandleader for local folk outfit, Delicate Cutters and co-fronts the raucous Teen Getaway. Delicate Cutters' second album, Some Creatures, is due out Summer 2010.
