What about Chimay? Do you plan to add any of their beers on tap?

Yes, I do. Alabama Crown has the local rights to distribute Chimay. It may be a couple of weeks before they have any. I will carry the draught if Alabama Crown brings it.

When all these beers were approved from Birmingham Beverage, I ordered everything they had in stock - bottle and draught. The only thing I duplicated was Old Rasputin in bottle and draught. ACME IPA, Maredsous 8 and 10 were only available on draught so those were obvious choices. Some of the others I had to make a decision which to carry first - draught or bottle. My goal was to have every new beer represented in bottle or draught.

I will continue to do this as beers come into the market. Mainly, because I'm like all of you, I WANT to have them. It might not be a smart decision, but I'm not a business man. I'm an engineer. There are probably a lot of you out there who could teach me a lesson or two about business.

We had a few problems on Thursday or Friday. I will work hard to address these in the coming days. It might set me back in some of the other projects I was involved in; however, we need to do this right. These are new beers to folks in Alabama and aside from one Canadian, our staff is from Alabama. They haven't seen many of these beers either. If they have had them, they were drinking them not serving them. So, I sent pronunciation guides to many of them. I will start trying to better educate them on the new styles. We will taste the beers. Talk about them and some of my staff will catch on quickly and others will take a while.

These beers on draught are new to the distributors - sales people, draft techs, and drivers - even management. Everyone has a steep learning curve right now and I beg your patience until we can get better at this.

Hopefully soon, the proper glassware will arrive. That will help on serving size. Prices might be adjusted slightly because I base all that on how much I pay for the beer and how much I need to make to stay in business.

We'll work the distributors' draft techs to figure out CO2 pressures that work best for Belgians. We'll get the beer in and get it cold before we start serving it. Serving bottles that had just arrived on Friday caused bad foaming, but people would have revolted if they couldn't have them.

I'm sorry for the long post, but I've been hearing through the grapevine that we were trying to rip people off and in general, we suck. Trust me - we try not to suck...and I hope you know how I feel about being called a crook.

are these going to be included in half price Draught on TUE/THURS?

I've made a decision from a liability standpoint and cost issues to exclude >6% beers from half draught. It was a tough decision.

Trust me that is a good one! If they were half price I would be tempted to drink twice as many. And that my friends would be bad news!

And this my friends is customer service, from a local company with the right attitude, putting the right foot forward. Maybe a good lesson for others in any business in the area (See posts concerning where the beers are located-central). Acknowledge mistakes can and will be made, take care of any possible negative issues concerning such and move down the road a success providing a positive service to the community. I have never been to the J Clyde, nor have I met the principles involved, but I will make certain to get by there soon to enjoy good brews and good food with clients, friends and family. cheers!!!!

The J. Clyde Weekly Beers June 2nd

Rather than repost a list that I posted on The J. Clyde website. I'm going to refer you back to the new beers. Just click on the link above.

As you know, stocks are low at Birmingham Beverage and new beers will be rolling in tomorrow at Birmingham Budweiser. I think we can get some Rogue XS tomorrow and Birmingham Beverage potentially has a few more things showing up. So, the list isn't as extensive as last week, but we still have a decent selection.

In addition to Great Divide, Tommyknocker, and Durango showing up tomorrow, I also expect Delirium Tremens and Abita Andygator on draught. I will update the whole list tomorrow.

Cheers!
